What Edu Gets Wrong About AI

January 1, 2025

Hey friend 👋🏽
AI in education can feel…a lot. New tools, new policies, new opinions flying everywhere. But here’s the thing—most of what works with AI in education isn’t complicated.

It’s thoughtful. It’s human. And it’s teachable.

Here are three shifts that actually work.

1. Don’t ban AI—teach judgment.
Students don’t need less AI exposure; they need better guidance. Teaching when and how to use AI builds discernment, not dependence.

2. Design assignments that require thinking, not output.
If an assignment only asks for answers, AI will deliver. If it asks for reasoning, reflection, or application, learning still leads.

3. Model transparent, ethical use.
Show students how you use AI. Talk about the why, the when, and the limits. Modeling builds trust and understanding.

So friend…AI doesn’t replace learning. It reshapes it. And with the right approach, learning still wins.
